Advising and Peer Mentorship

Within the Center for Student Academic Success at Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±×ÊÁÏ, we take a comprehensive and holistic approach to academic advising. Through our team of professional advisors and a cohort of Peer Mentors, all Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±×ÊÁÏ students have access to tailored support to help them meet their academic and personal goals. â€¨

Our trained and experienced staff of professional advisors serve Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±×ÊÁÏ by: 

  • Directing students to campus resources and information to help them transition to college and meet personalized goals
  • Meeting regularly with students to help keep them on track with their academic progress
  • Providing guidance on choosing the right major for ALL students with an emphasis on undecided students and students who are questioning their major
  • Engaging in professional development to stay up-to-date on best advising practices 
  • Collaborating with offices across campus to ensure complete support for all students
  • Assisting students with the following procedures: 
    • Academic appeals 
    • SAP appeals 
    • Declaration / change of major, minor, or core concentration
    • Change of student status (withdrawal/transfer) 
    • Student reinstatement 

Our team of student Peer Mentors contributes to the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±×ÊÁÏ experience by: 

  • Supporting incoming students throughout their first year at Roger Williams 
  • Hosting workshops focused on social and academic success 
  • Representing the wide array of academic programs offered on campus 

Here are some additional ways CSAS supports Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±×ÊÁÏ students academically: 

  • Providing GPA calculations to help students determine how to meet GPA goals. This is particularly helpful to students who need to maintain a particular GPA for a scholarship!
  • Consulting on study strategies, time management, organization, and other academic tips
  • Informing students about helpful resources, University policies, and opportunities to help most of your college experience
