Organization: Coggeshall Farm Museum

Positions Available:  2-3 students 

Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:30-4:30. This position has a flexible schedule with some weekend hours during events.

Position Overview

Coggeshall Farm Museum seeks a creative, forward thinking, and highly motivated person to serve in a work study position in Bristol, RI. Under the general supervision of the Executive Director at Coggeshall Farm Museum, the Community Engagement assistant will help with the creation and execution of Coggeshall鈥檚 museum programs and events. This position will collect images and video to use for community outreach through social media and assist in event planning.  

In 2020, Coggeshall Farm Museum and Old Sturbridge Village entered into an innovative management partnership that leverages the capacity of OSV to support the administrative functions of CFM. Located on 48 acres of coastal farmland in Bristol, Rhode Island, CFM offers a glimpse of life on a salt marsh farm in the late 18th century, heritage breed animals and historic approaches to farming and gardening, and a diverse and changing landscape.

Qualifications

  • Interest in history, art history, education, museum studies, or a related field.
  • Interest in designing and implementing programs for public audiences.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with diverse groups.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of audiences.
  • Must be organized as well as flexible, and able to be self-directed in prioritizing tasks and work.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills and experience working on a team.
  • Must have the ability to be flexible with the unexpected challenges.
  • Strong communication skills (oral, written, and visual). 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office. 
  • Commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following

  • The Community Engagement position will build photo and video collateral for event outreach
  • Design and implement programs and events for guests. 
  • This position will assist with creating, growing & evaluating events. Work with staff to assist with the creation of virtual content for Coggeshall programming
  • Promote diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility.
  • Recruit Volunteers for events.
  • Other duties as required.

Coggeshall Farm is not accessible by public transportation. Private car is necessary.
