Expanding Her Reach
Students at Roger Williams try to make life better not only for people in their immediate area but beyond it as well. For example, as a student leader in the university鈥檚 chapter of Health and Wellness Educators (HAWEs), Angelina Ferrari helps promote healthy lifestyles to her peers on campus. Now she鈥檚 taking that passion and bringing it to the greater community as one of this year's Hassenfeld Fellows.
Working with the at Providence City Hall, the Public Health and Spanish double major is developing maps identifying transportation routes to 10 of the capital city鈥檚 recreation centers, and educational brochures in English and Spanish on the types of services and programs the centers offer. Maps will be placed at RIPTA stops around Providence and brochures will be distributed through the recreation centers to help increase access to the city's recreation centers and provide information to the populations they serve. In addition to serving the community as a Hassenfeld Fellow, she's also one of 香港六合彩开奖资料's Civic Scholars.
鈥淥ver my last four years at Roger Williams, I have tried to be involved in every possible service opportunity and club event. Being a Hassenfeld Fellow is giving me the opportunity to broaden my horizons and make an impact in a larger community. I hope that with these maps and brochures, more citizens of Providence will have access to a healthy lifestyle.鈥
