Retail Operations Data Entry Clerk
Job Description
Starting from simply data entry, then learning how to use Excel to track weekly cost, and manage a sheet that is constantly being updated, the student will gain vast knowledge of invoicing, product usage, costing out products, computing cost of goods, and doing a full price-fix analysis. All skills are those needed to run a successful business. In addition, the FIT employee is allowed a free meal per scheduled working shift.
Year 1
Responsibility/Function
Student鈥檚 first year will be strictly data entry. Using Microsoft Excel, along with a basic invoicing software, student will be responsible to enter in weekly invoices from University approved purveyors. They will organize invoices accordingly and submit to our controller. In addition, student will enter in daily sales and counts from sales receipts recorded from Upper Commons. Also, the FIT employee is allowed a free meal per scheduled working shift.
Year 2
Responsibility/Function
Still performing data entry learned from previous year, and after gaining basic Excel Workbook knowledge, this student will be responsible for managing our inventory worksheet. He/she will enter new products, along with the product information, i.e. pricing, pack size, product number. Student will manage this worksheet daily by updating pricing utilizing invoices received from purveyors, continue to add, delete, and modify products used throughout our six retail locations.
Using this skillset, the student will start to understand cost of goods and how to formulate food costing, which drives our pricing structure.
Year 3
Responsibility/Function
Learning how to operate Excel and basic invoicing software, this student and the Director of Retail Ops, will go through all of our products and do a price-fix analysis. Student will be responsible for producing inventory sheets weekly to our retail supervisors, entering in weekly counts and producing our weekly food cost actuals. Skills learned over Years 1 and 2 are needed to produce a true cost.
