Talking in the Library with Jewher Ilham
Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±×ÊÁÏ Library is proud to present author and human rights activist Jewher Ilham on November 6, 2019 at 4:30 p.m. as part of the Mary Tefft White Center's Talking in the Library Lecture Series.
Jewher is the daughter of Professor Ilham Tothi, an economics professor and advocate for the rights of China’s Uyghur group, who was convicted on charges of separatism and sentenced to life in prison in September 2014.
Jewher will discuss her advocacy work on behalf of her father (and all Uyghurs) and explain the issues behind the persecution of the Uyghurs in the Xinxiang region of China, where an estimated 1-3 million Uyghurs are being held in concentration/re-education camps.
