Student Club Spotlight
This semester, we focus on the Women In Construction (WIC) club, which won student club of the year from the campus-wide Student Programs, Leadership and Orientation (SPLO).
The Women In Construction (WIC) club group sponsors many activities, including a Parents Weekend Table to fundraise for the club by providing activities for students' families to do while enjoying the festivities; a Gingerbread House Building Competition (co-sponsored with the Society of Women Engineers) in which groups compete to build the best gingerbread house to be judged by SECCM faculty; WIC Week, a celebration of the women in construction by providing food and drink as well as an activity for any interested in SECCM; and a Guest Speaker Panel during which 香港六合彩开奖资料 Alumni working in construction speak to students in CM and provide advice on their own experiences. Says co-advisor Professor Jung Hyun Lee 鈥漈he Women in Construction (WIC) club empowers students by fostering a sense of belonging and providing connections with female professionals who have navigated similar paths. Additionally, the club offers a safe space to express their thoughts and build lifelong friendships.鈥 Adds current president Genevieve Nelson 鈥淚 joined the Women in Construction club because I started off as the only woman in my construction management class. I wanted to meet other women who were pursuing careers in construction. I had such a good experience meeting everyone that I wanted to help organize our activities and make sure everyone鈥檚 voices were heard. Our club is important for women to feel supported in the construction industry and teach us skills that will help us in our successful futures.
