Katie is originally from Media, PA. She graduated with honors from the prestigious Kirov Academy of Ballet in Washington, DC, and was one of two dancers to receive an Honorable Merit Diploma from the Tersiphora Foundation of St. Petersburg, Russia in 2004. She has danced and taught professionally, working on numerous professional stages in New England and Europe. She worked with Newport Contemporary Ballet Company (formally Island Moving Company) for 9 seasons, and upon moving from NYC in 2013, she brought her knowledge and work of the Gyrotonic Expansion System with her to RI. She runs Gyrotonic Newport, a studio that offers group and private classes, as well as pre-training in the Gyrotonic methods. Her teaching is very much influenced by her careers in professional ballet,  contemporary dance, and Gyrotonic somatic work.
